How our record 2018 rainfall ranks against other US cities

Cbus Weather Nerd

We had record rainfall for the date on December 31st, and it helped push our rainfall totals over the previous record.  We officially tallied 55.18″ here in Columbus, 15.87″ above the normal rainfall of 39.31″

I looked at some of the historically wettest US cities and checked how their 2018 compared to ours.  Most of the wettest cities in the US are in the east and southeast part of the country.

But one of the wettest locations was a small airport along the Washington coast, with more than 105″ of rainfall.

We did get more rainfall than Central Florida, Seattle (Sea-Tac airport), and even Portland. Cities like San Fran. might have rainy weather, foggy weather, but do not get the intense rainfalls like us!
