LOS ANGELES (WCMH) — It’s been well-documented the past few weeks that when Joe Burrow first took up football as a young boy in Athens, Ohio he was reluctant to play quarterback.

It turned out to be the decision that set him up for his life’s work and that work has led him all the way to Super Bowl LVI when the Bengals face the Rams on NBC4.

NBC4 sports director Jerod Smalley reflects on Burrow’s journey from Athens legend to Bengals’ savior. You can watch the story in the video player above.
