The Memorial

The first day of the Memorial Tournament kicked off on Monday as NBC4’s Elyse Chengery was there bright and early as crews and volunteers showed up to get the tournament all inline.

Professional golfers could be seen taking in some practice swings. Players started to arrive early this weekend into Monday and the rest will be arriving Tuesday morning.

Directors on the course it all wouldn’t be possible without the help of 3,000 volunteers helping the event run successfully.

“It’s what’s makes the tournament. I mean, a lot of the people who have worked with me for 10 years on this job so about 70% of my volunteers are returnees so it becomes like an extended family,” said Admissions Captain Dick Curtis.

It’s an exciting time to be out at Muirfield Golf Course. If you want to come out, full week passes are no longer available. However, you can still come out for the practice rounds. Practice round badges can be purchased at the gate Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
