Junior Golf Day gives kids an opportunity to meet the pros

The Memorial

A lot of kids were out at the Memorial Tournament on Wednesday for Junior Golf Day.

Many school field trips made their way to the courses. There was a junior golf clinic, kid activities and a designated autograph area.

Not only were kids excited to get autographs from the professionals, many of them have high hopes to become one of the pros when they grow up.

Ten-year-old Carson Boyle loves golf and hopes to be a pro one day. He’s also picked up a few autographs.

“I’m here with my dad and I’m really looking forward to learn more stuff about golf,” said Boyle. “I’ve gotten Xander, Kyle, Peyton Manning.”

“I just want to have fun with my dad and get some autographs from famous golf players. It’s awesome because they work their whole lives for this and they play as hard as they can,” said Mitchell Wheeler.

The best part for these kids is seeing all these players up close.

“It’s fun walking around and seeing all the great players and how far they could hit. Amazing actually seeing them here and be able to see them up close and seeing what they look like and seeing them do what they’re doing,” said Conner Wolfe.

“I just love seeing this course it’s really beautiful I think and it’s kind of cool to see all these pro golfers here. Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed, I got Peyton Manning too and Jack Nicklaus.”

“I’m here with my dad and just love seeing all of the golfers,” said Jacob Funkhouser.

Kids could be seen near all the greens throughout the day.

Don’t forget the first round of the Memorial Tournament begins Thursday at 7:30am.
