CLEVEALND, Ohio (WCMH) — The No. 10 Ohio State men’s hockey team beat No. 4 Michigan 4-2 in the “Faceoff on the Lake” in front of 45,523 people at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland on Saturday.

The Buckeyes scored three times in the second period and netted a power play and a shorthanded goal in the win. Jake Wise led the Buckeyes with three points on a goal and two assists and goalie Jakub Dobes had 35 saves, including 19 in the third period.

Ohio State improves to 18-11-3 on the year and is 11-9-2-0-0-1 in the Big Ten, tied with Michigan for second place in the league Ten with one week remaining in the regular season. 

The crowd of 45,523 was the largest in Ohio State history, passing the 45,021 at the Hockey City Classic at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis Jan. 17, 2014.

This was the fourth outdoor game for the Buckeyes and the second in Cleveland, with the first at Progressive Field in January 2012.
