Columbus native to take field at Huntington Park for Triple-A All Star Game

Columbus native Drew Dosch will take the field in the Triple A All-Star game Wednesday night at Huntington Park in front of countless hometown fans.

Dosch plays for the Baltimore Orioles' minor league team, the Norfolk Tides, having been drafted by the team in 2013. His parents, Greg and Lisa, could not be more excited to watch their son make his Triple A All-Star debut in his hometown.

"That's all he's ever wanted to do, is play baseball...other little kids..fireman or whatever, it was only baseball for Drew. Only baseball," said Lisa.

Growing up the son of a baseball coach, Drew was a natural from the start, and he helped lead his high school team, the Canal Winchester Indians, to the State Tournament at Huntington Park.

"It's special to come onto to this field... 9 years ago I guess it would have been, the first State Tournament that was held here, and we played in the State Final Four here...and to come back some 9 years later as a Triple A All-Star," said Drew.

Whenever Norfolk comes to Columbus to face the Clippers, a number of fans from Canal Winchester come out to support him.

"You look down the stands and there's all kinds of people from Canal Winchester here...it's just a very humbling...it's at that moment you know he is kind of a big deal," said Greg.

Drew and his parents took a stroll on the field at Huntington Park Monday...just to relish the moment.

"To be selected to the All-Star team is an incredible honor, and we were really excited about it, and the fact that it was in Columbus makes it that much more special," said Lisa.

Drew set the goal of making it to the All-Star game this year, and he understands he is just one step closer to reaching his ultimate goal.

"If you can put yourself in the position to be an All-Star, then you can put yourself in the position to possibly make the next jump up into the big leagues, and obviously that's my goal," said Drew.
