Urban Meyer returns to work, begins preparing for Big Ten opener against Rutgers

Buckeyes

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – For the first time this football season, Urban Meyer went back to work Monday.

As of Monday, Meyer is allowed to work with the team over the next two weeks, but will remain on suspension from the actual games against Rutgers and TCU.

Meyer arrived at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center around 6:15am. It was a day of video review and meetings with coaches.

Monday was a day off for players, so Meyer will return to the practice field Tuesday afternoon.

When Meyer got to work Monday morning, Acting Head Coach Ryan Day says he offered brief summary of what he watched Saturday.

“I think the comment he made was, You only had to punt once here’, and I said, ‘Yeah,’” said Day. “We had a meeting early this morning. He’s been meeting with some of the players and things are back to normal. Obviously, he won’t be there for game day but everything else is back to normal,” said Day.

Day said keeping up with the normal routine will be key.

“He’ll be with the team on Friday. He can’t be with them on Saturday, but other than that will keep the routine, which is what we did last week. We did everything we would do normally and now it’s just great to have coach back so we can keep this thing rolling,” said Day.

The Buckeyes will keep that routine as they prepare to host Rutgers Saturday.
