COLUMBUS (WCMH)– Republican Troy Balderson has won re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives, NBC News projects.

The 12th District seat, according to the Associated Press, has been held by Republicans for more than 35 years.

Polls leading up to the election showed O’Connor, the Franklin County recorder closing in on Balderson, a former state lawmaker who won short-term control of the 12th District seat in an August special election after long-serving Republican incumbent Pat Tiberi retired.
