Worthington restaurant teams up with teachers to feed families

News

WORTHINGTON (WCMH) —  Nearly two dozen turkeys were in the oven by 5am Thursday morning at The Whitney House in downtown Worthington.

The restaurant is closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, but volunteers and staff were still busy cooking turkey dinners for 20 local families who are in need of some help this Thanksgiving.

The restaurant owners reached out to the Worthington school district to find out which families could benefit from it all.

“When we opened the restaurant one of the major things that we wanted to commit to doing was serving the community; not only the people who were coming in to spend money and dine here but to be able to give back to the community; the schools, the organizations, the Worthington Resource pantry, the McConnell Art Center and many of the wonderful organizations that exist within Worthington,” said Ian Brown with the Whitney House.

Local teachers volunteered at the restaurant to help cook and then they helped deliver the meals.
