PLANT CITY, FL (WCMH) – A Navy veteran in Florida says someone torched his home and left anti-Trump message spray painted on the walls.
Matthew Smith tells WFTS he was staying with his family at their grandparents’ house when he got a call from a neighbor telling him that he home was on fire.
As if the fire wasn’t bad enough, when he got inside, he noticed the graffiti on the walls.
“F-TRUMP, there’s cracker written on the back of the door there’s cracker written in the living room wall,” said Smith.
Smith says he voted for Donald Trump and he believes whoever did this was copying other destructive anti-Trump protesters across the counts.
“It’s been several months now where there’s protesters breaking the law, damaging property, destroying cities,” Smith said. “And, ‘oh just let them do it’ and that’s not how it should have gone down. If you are breaking the law you should go to jail. That’s it,” Smith said.
The state Fire Marshal is investigating the fire and calls the fire possible arson.
The house appears to be a total loss, but Smith is trying to save whatever he can.
“It upsets me that things like this happen,” Smith said. “But, there’s not a whole lot I can do now but fall back and regroup and get things back. I’m glad none of us were here.”‘
