ORLANDO, FL (NBC News) – A Florida worker is dead after he slipped into a vat of cooking oil near Walt Disney World.

It happened Wednesday morning at the Energy Garden in Orlando, near the amusement park’s property.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, a 61-year-old man was emptying oil and grease from a tractor-trailer when he fell into the vat.

Witnesses tried to help, but could not get the worker out. He eventually slipped further into the industrial machine.

Deputies say the man worked for Harvest Power, a company that recycles food waste for restaurants and hotels in central Florida.
