CHICAGO (WEEK) An Illinois woman celebrated her 110th birthday Friday.
Born in 1908, Doris Snyder grew up in Chicago and then moved to Peoria during the depression.
In her younger years, she worked for a newspaper and traveled the world.
Snyder still reads and writes every day to keep her memory sharp.
“It’s been a simple life. I have never smoked, never even tried to smoke, never held a cigarette in my hand once,” Doris said. “I think that is the biggest achievement I have done” She has also taken to ditching the white bread for wheat. “And then I don’t drink and I don’t gamble,” Doris said.
