LOS ANGELES (WCMH) — Los Angeles County officials say they have arrested a suspect in connection with a brutal attack on a 92-year-old man.
According to NBC Los Angeles, 30-year-old Laquisha Jones was arrested Tuesday night for the July 4 attack on Rodolfo Rodriguez.
Investigators say the assault happened when Rodriguez passed a woman and her child on a sidewalk while out for a walk in his Willowbrook neighborhood.
An eyewitness said the woman became upset and pushed Rodriguez, knocking him to the ground and hitting him with a piece of concrete. She also allegedly told him to “go back to your country.” The witness was able to get a picture of the woman, who was identified as Jones.
Authorities say a group of men joined in the attack.
Jones was taken into custody without incident, according to the sheriff’s department. She was booked for assault with a deadly weapon.
A GoFundMe page was set up for Rodriguez’s care and people have donated more than $255,000.
