Wildlife officials capture alligator with part of jaw missing

U.S. & World

SANFORD, FL (WESH) Sanford, Florida’s lakefront was a busy place Monday morning. Many people wanted to catch a glimpse of something peculiar.

An alligator popped up on social media over the weekend.

It lingered close to shore near downtown Sanford with a significant portion of the top of its nose missing.

Wildlife officers said because it was so badly hurt — likely during a battle over territory with another — they felt they needed to put it down.
