MINOT, ND (WCMH) — The one thing a young boy wanted for his birthday was to spend it with his dad who had been deployed for eight months to Al Udeid, Qatar.
His dad made sure that birthday wish came true in a heartwarming video posted to Facebook.
Air Force SMSgt. Mark Coffelt worked with his wife to have his son, Ronin, open a series of boxes on his birthday, USA Today reports. One of the boxes included a letter to his son apologizing for not being there for his birthday.
“There have been quite a few problems happening here and it looks like I will not be able to be home for your birthday this year. I was able to get you a special surprise, so I hope this makes up for me not coming home. I love you with all my heart and I miss you very much, Daddy,” the letter said.
Ronin started crying, but his mom had him keep opening the boxes, which got smaller and smaller. When he got to the final box, it had a note inside that simply read, “surprise.”
Ronin looked up, saw his dad, and the reaction will leave you in tears.
