An Arizona teen’s random act of kindness is taking social media by storm.
Dashawn Butler, 13, was at the Park Place mall in Tuscon last week when he saw an elderly woman trying to get to where her car was parked. He dropped everything he was doing to make sure she made it safely across the street and to her vehicle.
“She thought that she wouldn’t make it to her car,” Butler told KOLD.
Not only is the internet applauding Butler, but his own mother, Maria Lopez, said she couldn’t be more proud of her son.
“[It] kind of blew me away,” Lopez told KOLD. “Not that I didn’t expect anything like that from him, because he’s pretty much a good kid and he does a lot of things for people. I don’t really think I expected that though.”
Lopez recorded her son’s good deed and posted it to social media.
Bulter said he is shocked by the outpouring of gratitude for his actions and hopes he can help inspire others to just do the right thing.
“I was shocked because I didn’t really expect something like this to really happen,” he said. “I try my best.”
