LADY LAKE, Fla. (WCMH) – A man is behind bars, facing a number of charges after police say he led officers on a high-speed pursuit that crossed through neighborhoods and a golf course and ended with a crash and foot chase.
It happened Sunday in Lady Lake, Florida. Police say 29-year-old Jessie Charles Webb was behind the wheel. He was described as a habitual offender from Georgia with warrants out for his arrest.
It started at the entrance to Orange Blossom Hills Golf and Country Club. Police say Webb walked up to the guard shack and said, “Someone is eating my brains.”
When Lady Lake police and the village community watch responded, police say Webb stole the country club security’s SUV. He raced passed homes, then onto tee boxes, fairways and greens.
“Well, when you get up in the morning you never think you’re going to possibly get run over by a car on the golf course. Uh, It’s scary, quite honestly,” said Bil Saxby, a witness to the pursuit.
Police say Webb crashed the SUV and was chased down with the help of two golfers.
