PHOENIX, AZ (WCMH) — An Arizona Department of Public Safety Trooper was shot and killed Thursday.

According to KPNX, troopers responded to a call of a man spotted on Interstate 10, throwing things at cars.

Arizona DPS says the suspect and troopers got in a fight when the suspect was able to get one of the troopers’ gun.

The suspect then fired the gun twice, killing Arizona DPS Trooper Tyler Edenhofer and injuring another.

KPNX reports that Edenhofer was a rookie trooper who was just finishing training.
