(WCMH) – Topix, the host of popular discussion forums in many towns across the country, suddenly closed those forums Thursday.

The forums were a place where members of the community would anonymously post local news and gossip.

Visitors to the forums were greeted with this message Thursday evening:

For over a decade Topix has proudly served up your town’s latest news and hottest takes. In that time a lot has changed. We have grown to be one of the internet’s largest entertainment sources.

As Topix grew, news and discussion became less of what we are all about. Today we have decided to break away from what we were and fully embrace the “Pretty Good” entertainment company you have all come to love.
We want to thank all of our forum readers and contributors. You helped shape our company and push us in directions we never thought possible. We hope that you continue to enjoy our content no matter what form it might take.
