Teen’s country version of the National Anthem goes viral

GAMBRILLS, MD (WCMH)– A video of a high school football player’s country rendition of the National Anthem has gone viral. 

According to the Capital Gazette, Jackson Dean performed the National Anthem Friday night before his team’s game. The performance was videotaped and posted on Facebook by Marci White McElhaney and since then it has over 600,000 views.

Dean told he Gazette he plans to be a country music singer after high school.

“This is my last year, then I’m done. I’ve got until January, I’ll have all my credits done, and I only have to be enrolled for this semester,” he said. “I got a waive by my principal and she’s very supportive of what I do.

“I’m going to go for it.”
