Teen saves little sisters from burning home

U.S. & World

TUCSON, AZ (KVOA) An Arizona teenager is being hailed a hero after he saved his two little sisters from their burning home.

Samuel Hatten, 17, had just stepped outside to get the mail when the fire started.

He says he knew something was wrong when he saw smoke and heard the fire alarm.

That’s when he ran into the house and grabbed his two baby sisters and climbed out the window.

“I grabbed both of them in my arms and climbed out the window backwards and swung my legs around and hopped out. I came and sat right here by the post and sat down and started yelling for help,” said Hatten.

Those quick actions potentially saved the lives of his two little sisters along with the family dogs. The father of the family says he just so grateful for everything Samuel did.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The family is staying in a hotel while they wait for their home to be repaired.
