Standoff underway after police chase motor home in California

BAKERSFIELD, CA – Authorities in pursuit of a motorhome and a kidnapping suspect are now involved in a standoff in Kern County, California.

The motorhome continued to make its way towards Bakersfield as CHP units followed the motorhome on Highway 99.

At 4:45 p.m. the pursuit continued to make its way northbound, eventually exiting at Merced and headed back south on Highway 99.

The chase made eventually made its way back into Bakersfield and through surface streets. The chase made its way through portions of Southwest Bakersfield.

The motorhome is now stopped, with police surrounding it.

Law enforcement in Southern California were in pursuit of a driver, believed to be a kidnapping suspect, driving a motorhome through freeways in Los Angeles.

Police said there were two children in the motorhome and the driver may be armed. According to local media reports, both children have been released. The suspect is still on the run.

The pursuit was related to an investigation that started in Santa Clarita.
