Special needs teen becomes flight attendant

U.S. & World

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) American Airlines inducted its first flight attendant with special needs and terminal illness over the weekend.

Shantell “Princess” Pooser, 17,  lives in Columbia, South Carolina, and is battling a series of airway defects.

When her condition took a turn for the worse, Princess and her mother began flying back-and-forth to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

“She saw the flight attendant and she was like, ‘Mommy, I want to be a flight attendant.”

A pilot with American Airlines found out, and set out to make that dream a reality.

On Saturday, the airline organized a birthday party for Princess, giving her a uniform and filling a plane with family and friends.
