Comedian Bill Cosby was not struck in the face with a chicken patty during a fight with an inmate after cracking a joke another inmate didn’t like.
Reports surfaced online on Tuesday about an alleged prison fight between Cosby and another inmate, but it’s not true, according to prison officials.
“The report is “totally made up,” said Amy Worden, a spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections.
Worden said Cosby is not even in general population so it’s impossible for the “chicken patty” incident to have occurred.
The 81-year-old was convicted in April of drugging and molesting a woman at his home outside of Philadelphia in 2004. He was sentenced last month to three to 10 years in a Pennsylvania prison.
In addition, Cosby’s lawyers are trying to get him released from prison.
His legal team has filed a motion asking the court to either grant him a new trial or reconsider his sentence.
Cosby’s lawyers asked the judge to at least modify his sentence so Cosby could be out on bail while he appeals his conviction.
Trial experts doubt the judge, who sentenced Cosby, will grant the motion, according to CNN.
The motion is a preliminary step to an appeal.
