WEST COVINA, CA (WCMH) — Maybe it was beginner’s luck, or maybe K9 Rye is a drug-sniffing expert.

Either way, the K9 officer with West Covina Police Department made a big bust on his first narcotic detection mission since being certified.

Rye was called to the scene after West Covina officers stopped a car on May 19 for a vehicle code violation, and alerted officers there may be more drugs in the vehicle.

Officers found approximately 60 pounds of methamphetamine in the vehicle.
