Plane that left from Texas crashes in Honduras

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (KXAN) — A private plane that departed from Austin, Texas Tuesday crashed in Honduras around 12:30pm.

Honduran officials tell NBC News the plane was taking off from the Toncontin International Airport when it left the runway and crashed near the El Pedregal neighborhood. Records show the plane left Austin at 9:31am and landed in Honduras at 11:17am. Aviation records do not show where the plane was headed after its departure from the Toncontin International Airport. 

Records show the plane is a Gulfstream G200. The plane’s layout shows it holds 12 people including crew members. 

Honduran officials say there were six people on board. Their injuries are not known at this time, but social media from the area shows there are injuries.
