AUSTIN (WCMH) — As it heats up, animals and other critters are looking for places to stay cool.
One Texas family spotted a family of scorpions trying to beat the heat in the Austin area.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission shared a photo Wednesday night of a scorpion carrying her babies and shared a link to an article on the Austin American-Statesman with more information on these arachnids’ summer getaways.
The Statesman reports that scorpions prefer environments that are not too hot or too cold, and may try to get into peoples’ homes.
It is possible that peoples’ porch lights also will draw scorpions over, because the light draws insects for them to eat (such as crickets).
Places full of trees are also more likely to have a lot of scorpions around.
