People keep spreading loved ones’ ashes at Disney World

U.S. & World

ORLANDO, FL (WESH) The Magic Kingdom is a popular place for loved ones to scattered the remains of their loved ones.

That’s according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal.

A Disney spokesperson told the Journal that anyone caught spreading ashes will be escorted off the property, but several people told the paper they did it anyway.

So, is spreading someone’s remains illegal? Todd DeGusipe, who works in the death care industry, says no.

“Realistically, you can do it any place you like. The question is: are you going to get caught, and if so, will you be criminally prosecuted? And in Florida I would say the answer is no.”
