Paramedics in California rescue a tortoise suffering from “shell shock”

El CAJON, CA (WCMH)– A large tortoise is safe after being rescued by paramedics in California. 

Paramedics for Heartland Fire and Rescue said in a Facebook post they came across a tortoise traveling down the sidewalk. The animal was moving slow and was possible suffering from they call “shell shock.” 

Paramedics strapped the big guy in the ambulance and transported it to a local animal shelter. After the posting about the animal on Facebook, the owner came forward. 

The tortoise is now safe and back home with its owner.
