North Carolina gang unit finds guns, drugs at day care

Fayetteville police said a couple who ran a daycare out of their home was arrested as part of a large drug bust earlier this week, that including the seizure over half a kilogram of cocaine, 300 pounds of marijuana, an ounce of heroin, 10 guns, and more.

Victoria and Reshod Everett were arrested Tuesday. The couple live on Ronald Reagan Drive, where police said they found heroin, marijuana cookies and gummy bears, and six firearms. Victoria Everett ran “Tori’s Playhouse,” out of the home police said.

“We don’t have any information that would lead up to believe any children, uh, got their hands on an of this stuff at all,” said Lt. Douglas Nicolosi, who oversaw the the Fayetteville Police Department’s Gang Unit’s investigation.

Thursday night, officers were back at the Everett’s home conducting a “follow-up investigation.”

Reshod Everett, 32, is charged with:

  • Trafficking in marijuana by possession (level I) – 37.8 pounds
  • Trafficking in marijuana by manufacture (level I) – 37.8 pounds
  • Trafficking in cocaine by possession (level III) – 443 grams
  • Trafficking in cocaine by manufacture (level III) – 443 grams
  • Conspire to traffic in marijuana
  • Conspire to traffic in cocaine
  • Two counts of maintain a dwelling for keeping/selling controlled substances
  • Trafficking in marijuana by possession (level II) – 62.8 pounds
  • Trafficking in heroin by possession (level III) – 31 grams
  • Trafficking in heroin by manufacture (level III) 31 grams
  • Possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana – 381 grams
  • Conspire to traffic in heroin

He is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $430,000 secured bond.

Victoria Everett, 34, was also arrested. She is charged with:

  • Trafficking in marijuana by possession (level II) 62.8 pounds
  • Trafficking in heroin by possession (level III) – 31 grams
  • Trafficking in heroin by manufacture (level III) 31 grams
  • Possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana – 381 grams
  • Maintaining a dwelling for keeping/selling controlled substances
  • Conspire to traffic in heroin

Nicolosi said the investigation began months ago and culminated Monday at an apartment at the Addison Ridge Apartment Complex.

“Work one investigation, it will lead to another one, and so on. Throughout the course of the investigations, it lead us to the apartments,” he said.

During Monday’s search, investigators seized:

  • 275.5 grams of marijuana
  • 1 ounce of marijuana wax
  • 437 grams of cocaine
  • A Smith & Wesson .380 handgun
  • A Scorpio 9mm handgun

As a result, 27-year-old Alvin Davis III was arrested and charged with:

  • Two counts of trafficking marijuana
  • Two counts of trafficking cocaine
  • Two counts of conspiracy to trafficking
  • Maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances
  • Maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances
  • Carrying a concealed weapon

Davis was taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center. He has since posted bond and been released, the release said.

Also seized in the two-day bust was over $70,000 in cash and a 2013 Audi Q7 SUV. The investigation is ongoing, the release said.
