Nebraska releases new tourism campaign, “Honestly, it’s not for everyone.”

OMAHA, NE (WCMH)– Nebraska releases campaign to draw people to the state, or do they?

The Washington Post reports for years Nebraska has had an issue of drawing tourists to the state. In a way to correct this on Wednesday the Nebraska Tourism Commission released a new slogan, “Honestly, it’s not for everyone.”

The release acknowledged they are not the most popular tourist state saying, “It may not be on everyone’s bucket list to visit.” But the commission continued, “If you like experiences that are unpretentious and uncomplicated or if you enjoy escaping the big city life for moments of solitude in the open plains, creating your own fun or exploring the quirkiness the state has to offer, chances are, you will like it here.”

The goal is to change people’s perspectives of Nebraska and what the state has to offer, but the new slogan is having mixed reactions. 

The Omaha World Herald released a poll finding a majority of Nebraskans liked the slogan, but others feel it won’t attract tourists to the state.

According to the release, the ad will begin running in spring of 2019.
