(WCMH) – A mind-blowing performance from magician Shin Lim earned him the top prize on America’s Got Talent: The Champions.

In his Champions performance, Shin Lim did a close-up performance, making signed cards from Howie Mandel and Terry Crews seemingly disappear and reappear in different places. For a final surprise in the act, Howie and Terry’s cards were slipped into Howie’s cup.

“I had so much to say, but now I realize I’m holding cards that were in your mouth,” said Howie, as he threw the cards to the ground. “Why would you do that?”

“I don’t think many people, having won the show, would have the guts to come back again this year and do what you’ve done. For that, you have my utmost respect,” said Simon Cowell. “It is the best of the best. And still, within that context, you were amazing. Literally amazing.”

Shin Lim was the winner of season 13 of America’s Got Talent.

During season 13, he described how he got into magic.

When he was 19 he was studying to become a concert pianist, while doing magic as a hobby. Two years into his education, he discovered he had carpal tunnel. A doctor told him he couldn’t do both piano and music.

He says it was the toughest decision of his life, but he chose magic.

Since then, he has become one of the top close-up magicians in the world.

His appearance on America’s Got Talent wasn’t his first time on television. He twice appeared on Penn & Teller: Fool Us, fooling Penn and Teller on both appearances.
