Jimmy Buffett to play free concert in Florida

U.S. & World

Get ready parrotheads! Jimmy Buffett is helping get out the vote with a free concert this week in South Florida.

Buffett will be hosting the free show Thursday in support of Democratic candidate for governor Gwen Graham, according to Graham’s campaign.

The concert at Hollywood ArtsPark Amphitheater will begin at 7:30pm, but doors open at 6pm. The show is free and open to the public.

“She has a heart for people and a passion for the Sunshine state. She’ll protect our precious natural environment, ensure we have strong public schools and affordable health care,” Buffett said in a statement released by the campaign.

“It’s been too long since we have had a Governor for all the people. For that reason, I am supporting my friend, Democrat Gwen Graham, for governor and I encourage ya’ll to do the same.”

In the statement, Buffett also talked about how he believes Graham will follow in the footsteps of her father, Bob Graham. Bob Graham served as Florida’s governor from 1979 to 1987 and is also a former Florida senator.

“Like her Dad, Gwen will put the interests of everyday Floridians first,” Buffett said in the statement.

Election Day in Florida is Tuesday, Aug. 28.
