Jeweler gifts a brand new ring to couple after theirs was stolen

U.S. & World

A young couple from California almost had their dreams crushed when their newly bought engagement ring was stolen.

Yessenia Trujillo was working at Jack-in-the-Box when someone stole her ring.

“I just felt so sad and scared. I was crying,” she told KGO-TV.

Trujillo’s despair didn’t last long. The owner of Ritz Jewelers, Khoren Ekmekjian, stepped in and offered to make the couple a new custom engagement ring free of charge.

“It was very touching for me, so it’s the least I can do,” Ekmekjian said.

He made the ring, which usually takes more than five weeks, in just five days for the couple. He said he just wanted to pay it forward with this act of kindness after others helped him get his business off the ground.

“Me and my brother were 18 and 19 and this is how we started,” Ekmekjian explained. “We had some good friends who gave us the help that was needed. I won’t forget that. This is why I want to share it.”

It was a small act of kindness the Trujillo and her fiancé, Mato Rincon, won’t soon forget.

“Just the generosity, out of nowhere from total stranger it’s amazing. Thank you very much, from the bottom of our hearts.” Rincon told KGO-TV.

The chances of finding the original ring are very small, but young couple said the new ring is even more special.
