Interactive marijuana museum opens its doors in Las Vegas

U.S. & World

In a city that has seen pretty much everything, a new museum is a first even for Las Vegas.

Cannabition, an interactive marijuana museum, opened its doors this week and it’s being called the first of its kind.

“We want to be approachable to the novice, and we want to be exciting to the enthusiast,” Cannabition experience manager Zach Ben-Haim told KSNV.

The museum has 12 interactive rooms with “Instagram-able” exhibits, a 24-foot bong called Bongzilla, and giant huggable imitation marijuana buds.

“We’re trying to drive cannabis culture through selfies and through pictures,” Ben-Haim said. “Everything here is an engagement. Everything here is a picture.”

While it seems like a great photo opportunity for Instagram and pot tourists, there’s more to the museum’s mission than meets the eye. While the exhibits make for interesting photo opportunities, each exhibit teaches visitors about the history, science and culture of marijuana.

“We want to make sure that everybody can have a conversation about cannabis — a healthy and articulate, factual conversation,” Ben-Haim said.

Some of the first visitors said the museum delivered on that front.

“It was a mind opener. It was educational,” visitor Oraina Smith told KSNV. “It was really cool facts and interesting things to know.”
