Hurricane Michael death toll climbs to 35

U.S. & World

At least 33 deaths across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia have been blamed on Hurricane Michael.

The Florida Emergency Response Center said a 78-year-old man died in Liberty County, Florida, bringing the death toll in Florida to 23, — more than any other state.

Michael struck the panhandle Oct. 10 as a Category 4 hurricane.

It was the strongest storm to hit the continental U.S. in more than a decade.
