When a Florida couple awoke to find their patio furniture piled against the front door of their home, they assumed neighborhood kids were pulling a prank.
Mary Charbonneau woke up Sunday morning to her front door barricaded with patio furniture.
“I asked my husband, ‘Hey, why is the furniture in front of the door?’” she told SNN. “I thought maybe when he was mowing the yard, he had moved it.”
Charbonneau’s husband, Mike, hadn’t moved the furniture. Suspecting that neighborhood kids were having some fun moving the furniture, he pulled up their security camera footage to see who the culprit was.
“He said, ‘Oh, Mary, You’re gonna wanna see this,’” Charbonneau said.
When the couple looked at the footage, they discovered a human wasn’t to blame — it was the work of an alligator.
The video showed the five-to-six-foot long gator getting tangled up in the furniture around 1:40am and dragging it to the front door. The couple was surprised the visitor didn’t make enough noise to wake up them or their dog.
“We’re glad we didn’t open the door for him at 1:40 in the morning,” Mike told SNN. “We’ve seen gators in the neighborhoods in the ponds and stuff and nothing coming up in people yards, so this is a first for us.”
