Family displaced by CA wildfires given Christmas gift by new neighbors to lift spirits

U.S. & World

ROCKLIN, CA (WCMH)– A family, displaced by the deadly California wildfires, was given a special holiday gift from their neighbors.

The community around their new home in Rocklin came together to hang Christmas lights for the family.

The Ryans lost their home in Paradise to the Butte County Wildfire that claimed the lives of at least 88 people and destroyed nearly 14-thousand homes.

The family said losing their home has been especially hard on their kids, but the welcome from their new neighbors has really lifted their spirits.

“It’s been really hard. They had anxiety, they were crying, they were sad. They miss their friends, they miss their house, but now that everybody at school has been so good to them, and, and welcome them, and just love them… they… they’re happy to be here,” said
