A daycare teacher was fired after children were caught on video playing outside a Georgia daycare unattended while the employees talked on the other side of the yard.
“They’ve left this babysitting right here by this door. And this one is over here. Playing with some pipes against the wall while the teachers are all the way down there,” said a woman who recorded the video while inside a doctor’s office and posted it on Facebook
The woman said she watched the children for at least 10 to 15 minutes and the employees were not around.
“No one has come down here to check on these babies. They’re just down here by themselves. I could easily jump the fence if I wanted to and be off with them,” she said.
Parents of the children said they were upset when the learned the children were left unattended.
Lacinda Smiley said her 1-year-old daughter attends Childcare Network Daycare and was on video unsupervised.
“Initially anger, anger when I heard what happened,” Smiley said. “The teachers neglected my baby along with another child while they stood and had a conversation away from the kids. The people who get paid to watch my child. We pay good money for this. They weren’t doing their job.”
Smiley said she pulled both of her kids out of the daycare and now say the daycare is trying to buy her silence.
“I received a non-disclosure today offering me $485 dollars,” Smiley said. “They want us to be quiet, not say anything and they give us the $485 dollars. That’s not how it works. This is my child. My child is priceless.”
The district manager of the Childcare Network said the daycare teacher involved was fired.
