Visitors to Chester zoo in the UK, were caught by surprise on Thursday when a black rhino went into labor.

“While most rhino births happen at night or in the early hours of the morning, Malindi, a 12-year-old Eastern black rhino shocked onlookers when she went into labor at around 12:30 in the middle of a busy summer’s day,” a statement on Chester Zoo’s website reads.

Malindi delivered a healthy male calf in less than half an hour and the new born was up on his feet within 14 minutes.

The zoo keepers described it as a “very rare and special event” for visitors to witness.
