Crossing guard injured while saving woman’s life

A crossing guard was injured after witnesses say he put his life on the line to save the life of a young woman.

Robert Belanger of Simi Valley, suffered life-threatening injuries was just doing his job when he was walking a 23-year-old woman across the street and then pushed her out of the way of an oncoming SUV. 

Police say the driver of an SUV stayed at the scene after first responders arrived. There’s no indication the driver was impaired when the crash occurred.

Now, area residents are in shock and praying for Belanger.

“Just pray for Bob, (that) he’s ok. He risked his life to save somebody else’s,” one of Belanger’s friends said.
