INDIANAPOLIS (WCMH) — Crossfit members are flexing their political muscles after an Indiana gym closed over controversy surrounding a canceled gay pride event.
The pro-LGBTQ workouts at “Crossfit Infiltrate” in Indianapolis was scheduled for Thursday night. But, the closure didn’t stop community members from holding the event anyway at a local park nearby.
The gym’s owner, Brandon Lowe, wrote in an email “The ownership canceled the event because of our beliefs.”
Crossfit executive Russell Berger tweeted his support of the gym’s decision to cancel the event. He praised the gym for “standing by your convictions and refusing to celebrate sin by hosting an @indypride workout.”
Those tweets have since been deleted and Berger has been fired.
