Colorado parents are demanding answers after a video surfaced allegedly showing a middle school teacher tape a student to a chair.
According to KMGH, Prairie Heights Middle School sent an email to parents Friday saying a teacher was placed on administrative leave after police received a 13-minute video showing the teacher allegedly wrap tape several times around a 7th grader’s torso and thighs and then putting tape on his mouth. Investigators have not released the video, which was filmed by another student, nor has the female teacher involved been publicly identified.
“After some interviews, specifically the child involved in this and other — the video taken into context with other information we have — did raise our level of concern and it was clear we needed to conduct a criminal investigation into this matter,” Evans Police Department Chief Rick Brandt told KMGH.
While the video showing the incident isn’t expected to be released to the public until the investigation is complete, parents are demanding answers.
“Stuff like this should not be happening,” one parent said. “This is a good school, but stuff like this really shouldn’t be happening.”
Prairie Heights Middle School officials said they would not comment further on the incident until the investigation is finished.
