Build-A-Bear closes lines nationwide for Pay Your Age Day due to ‘unprecedented response’

U.S. & World

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — An “unprecedented response” from customers on Pay Your Age Day has prompted Build-A-Bear to close lines at stores nationwide.

In a post on its website, the company said they were seeing “longer than expected lines and large crowds” for the event. Lines have been shutdown at stores for safety concerns, the company said in a separate post on Facebook.

Officials with Easton Town Center said their location would not stop the lines, but aren’t sure if people will be helped once the store closes at 9pm.

Robin Kefauver waited five hours in line with her niece and son, but she said what really helped ease the wait was the free lemonade, water, and umbrellas that Easton Town Center gave folks as they waited in line.  Many of the parents joked about how silly some would think they were for waiting in line for just a stuffed bear.

“That bear will now have a story . It will just be fun. That bear has more of a story than any of the other bears now,” said Kefauver.
