TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Retailer Best Buy is expanding tech support options to assist older consumers.

The company is testing a service called “Assured Living”.

The CEO said the program is aimed at helping aging adults stay healthy at home with assistance from technology products and services.

The tech includes bed motion monitors, medicine cabinet sensors, emergency buttons and more.

From the smartphone app, you can even control the thermostat, door locks and keep an eye on who is coming and going from your parents’ home.

You can track all of this data online and app notifications can be customized to suit your family’s needs.

You can get an entry-level package of gear for around $400, with the monthly monitoring service costing an additional $30.

The service is only available in select markets, but the company hopes to expand to more.
