Babysitter hailed as hero after fighting off rabid fox

U.S. & World

(WAGT/NBC News) A South Carolina babysitter is being hailed as a hero after fighting off a rabid fox.

Daniel Thompson was playing in the backyard of his North Augusta home when the fox ran out of the woods and attacked.

“It was ripping open my skin and tearing out the meat,” the 7-year-old says.

Prisca Hill, Daniel’s babysitter, quickly climbed into a tree with the boy, but the attack continued.

“So I hung down from my branch and kicked the crap out of this thing and it grabs onto my foot. So, I turned around, grabbed it by the neck and threw it as far as I could into the woods and it hit the ground, running,” she says. “Then, it came back around and grabbed onto his foot again.”
