Apple Watch or iPhones used as student IDs at some universitites

Students on some college campuses have a reason to ask their parents to buy them an Apple Watch.

Students at the University of Alabama, Duke University and the University of Oklahoma can use an Apple Watch as their student IDs.

The watch can be used in places where the IDs are accepted both on and off campus, Apple officials said.

Students can buy books, grab a meal and in some cases access dorms with their Apple Watch.

Those students who don’t have the watch can store their IDs in the wallet app on their iPhones.

The phones can then be used to access campus facilities.
