A second child has died from a flu-related illness.
It’s the second pediatric death in the nation during the 2018-19 flu season. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say the child died during the week ending Oct. 13. The CDC didn’t provide any additional details.
An unvaccinated child in Florida was the first child to die during the 2018-2019 flu season after coming down with the flu, according to the Florida Department of Health.
Overall, the U.S. is experiencing moderate to low flu activity.
The number of pneumonia and influenza-related deaths for the week ending Oct. 26 is “below the epidemic threshold.”
