11-year-old makes bomb threat because teacher took phone, police say

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – An 11-year-old girl who was upset after having her phone taken away by a teacher later called in a bomb threat to the school on Monday, Charleston police said. 

Charleston police and fire departments responded to the the Charleston Math and Science Charter School just before 4 p.m. after the threat was made, according to City of Charleston Public Information Officer Charles Francis.

Authorities did not find anything during a search of the campus. 

According to the Post and Courier, a fire was intentionally set at the same school in May 2017.

The fire, which was started when two toilet paper dispensers were set ablaze, caused $10,000 in damage.
