COLUMBUS (WCMH)–A double shooting on the city’s near east side sends two youths to the hospital.

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Seemic Circle around 8:20 pm Thursday evening.

The victims are boys aged 12 and 16. The 16-year-old was hit twice and the 12-year-old was hit once in the groin. When officers arrived, they were able to get a tourniquet on the younger victim. Both were transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in critical but stable condition.

According to police, the victims were passing a football and accidentally hit a little girl in the head and apologized.

Investigators believe the three suspects approached the home where the boys were and talked to the mother.

All three had guns according to police and one of them and began shooting and hit the two boys inside. The suspects ran away and got into a gray Pontiac. No other suspect information was released.
